I wrote this song as a way of celebrating one of the constants in life being that of friendship. This year has seen so many low points that I decided to highlight the value that we find in struggle. That when you go through difficult things in a community of friends your love for and quality of those relationships only gets richer and more meaningful, at least in those ride-or-die, thick-and-thin relationships that I talked about in this song. I know when I played water-polo I was told to look at the part of the goal I wanted to hit because you tend to hit what you look at. My hope is to provide a sonic moment where listeners can focus on something that is just as real as the negative, yet brings hope and joy. Maybe we can find ourselves in a stronger place as a result of realizing the amazing people holding us up.
